Hair care is a part of self care.
And self care helps you live a more balanced life. If you love your body , respect it, feed it right and beautify it, you will feel it opening up and manifesting from inside out, through your physical appearance and attitude.
Protective styles are great for women looking to keep their natural hair from damage while it grows nicely.
Linda wanted to get a protective style that will help her grow her hair that had become catch-up short. She sought professional help and got the right protective styles done overtime and she was satisfied with them all.
Yes, not all protective styles are good for everyone. Your type of hair and personality determines the kind of protective style that’ll suit you.
The wrong protective style can cause your hair to get tangled, dry and may experience breakage from being left untouched for too long. Also, it can leave your scalp with excruciating pain.
How do you get the right protective style that suits you, then?
#1. Know your hair type
As women are different so are their hair types. If your hair is oily and hardly holds a curl or kind, then you likely have the straight hair.
If your hair is very dry, prone to breakage, tightly coiled with a zig zag pattern and delicate in nature, then your hair is the Kinky hair.
For those who have full bodied, naturally curly hair with a strand shaped like the letter S, you’ve the curly hair type.
Lastly, among the most common hair types is the wavy hair which is usually not straight nor curly.
#2. Identify your personality
What are your goals for seeking a protective style? Are you impatient to see your hair gain length or you just want your hair looking cute?
Perhaps, you’re not in a hurry but you want your hair to grow longer and look cute. Understanding your personality will help you get the protective style that suits you.
If you are in a hurry to grow your hair, neatly installed braids (with extensions) will get you the result you’ll be happy about.
But if your goal is a cute look and don’t have the patience to carry a style for two weeks, buns will be great for you. However this is not ideal for all hair types.
If you have the required patience to carry a protective style for longer periods, then going for a braid or twist with your natural hair will be perfect.
Consult your professional stylist
Maybe you were unable to identify your hair type and you’re not sure the protective style fit for your personality, your stylist will be of great help.
Linda knew she needed help and went for it. I received this awesome testimonial from her and I loved it:
When I first started coming to Diena, my hair was catch-up short. I had a boy cut with the top dyed extreme blond. Diena has been caring for my hair for over five years. My hair has grown so good. Diena has what my Grandmother calls a “growing hand”. I now have shoulder length hair that is strong & healthy especially since I stopped bleaching it blond. I have had several different types & styles of braids and have been satisfied with them all. The service is always great. I would never go anywhere else. I am a customer for life!
